SPORTING LIFE AT SNEŽNIK

BOCCE and POOL competitions

The Club held many bocce tournaments including the regular Ovens & Murray Competitions – played fortnightly between local clubs (Myrtleford Savoy Club, Albury Italo Club and Da Vinci Social Club Wangaratta); the Kromar Cup (named after 1st President Jože Kromar), later changed to Past Member’s Cup, Annual Laminex Bocce Tournment, Sneznik Cup, Wodonga Tile Co Cup and the Annual Carnivale Bocce Tournament, which attracted clubs from further afield.

Members also travelled to other clubs in Melbourne, Canberra and Griffith for Bocce competitions.

Our own Annual Bocce Tournament and Dinner Dance, which originated with the local area’s Carnivale celebrations in September 1986 continued on for many years. In 1993, the Slovenian ambassador – Mr Aljaž Gosnar, attended the celebrations. Local band, Wodonga Continentals provided the entertainment.

Saturday nights at the Club for many years also played host to local pool competitions.
