VESTNIK
In an effort to keep the Slovenian public in Australia informed of issues and developments in the homeland, the periodical “Vestnik” was born. A committee of volunteers saw the enormous value to the Slovenian immigrant population, of the need to read in their native language to keep abreast of events in their native country. Gathering to produce this publication at one of the volunteer’s homes, the information received from various sources was collated, edited and typed, at first on a manual typewriter. The pages, copied on a simple copier were put into envelopes, stamped and distributed by the volunteers, all manually until the process was made easier with the advent of modern computers. The publication remained until 1994, as a one avenue for acquiring information and communicating or expressing oneself on popular issues.
