SLOVENIAN DRAMA GROUP of SLOVENIAN ASSOCIATION PLANINKA, BRISBANE
The members of Planinka organised cultural evenings, recitals, cultural programs with the children, and have organised a drama group, which performed already in 1969 with the drama Razvalina življenja – Life’s Ruins by the priest author Fran Saleški Finžgar, performing at A Serbian Hall in Toowong. The tragedy was directed by Anica Cuderman, other actors were:

Urh – Stanko Zadravec,

Lenčka – Anica Cuderman,

Tona – Hermina Zimšek,

Martin – Slavko Pekolj,

Ferjan – Ivan Pišotek,

Sirk – Jože Barbis,

Mica – Marija Čeh,

voice of a maid and prompter – Francka Barbis.

Techical staff: S. Pekolj, J. Barbis, I. Pišotek and S. Zadravec.

 The successful komedy was Špelca v Ljubljani – Spela in Ljubljana, which was performed at the Ukranian Hall in Brisbane in 1985, at Merrylands, Sydney and the next day in Wooloongong. The comedy was directed by Anka Brožič, actors were as following:

Špelca – Anka Brožič,

the doctor – Mirka Zavnik,

nurse – Slavka Maver and

Špelca’s sister – Ivanka Hrvatin.

The same year, in December, a short one act play Miklavžev večer – St Nicholas’ Eve was performed in the newly opened Hall of Planinka, directed by Anka Brožič.

Actors were: Anka Brožič, Slavka Maver, Ivanka Hrvatin and Mirko Cuderman.

In March 1996, and in June 1996, the comedy variety shows were presented at Planinka, presented in English language to cater for younger generations and Australian friends as well.
